Mastergeeha FC 4:4 Lifford AFC after extra time,

Lifford won 4:1 on penalties.

With the match kicking off in sunshine in Kerry the Lifford boys raced into a 3 goal lead with goals from debutant Jack Keane opening the scoring followed by goals from George Quinn & Oisin ODonaghue. They were in total control of the game and could have had a 4th or 5th goals. It was definetly a game of 2 halves .Lifford started the second half well but out of nowhere Mastergeeha team got a first goal and gained confidence from it. It was quickly followed by a dubious penalty award to bring the game to 3.2 The game ebbed & flowed for both teams with Lifford going close on a few occasions. With literally the last kick of the game the equaliser came to send the game into extra time.Nearly from the kick off Mastergheea players tails were up and scored the goal to put the home team 4:3 in front. One thing this Lifford team have is character and showed by pulling the goal back by Sam Obadeyi to draw the game 4;4. Penalties : Frank Lynch first up for Lifford and scored, Mastergeeha levelled, up next captain George Quin scored , Then a brilliant save from Lifford goalkeeper Luke Kennedy, then Luke stepped up and scored his penalty and then brilliantly saved another spot kick to put Lifford in control. Up stepped Sam Obadeyi to send the ball to the back of the net , for the celebrations to start. The senior players stood up today with their experience and leadership, best for the winners, Luke Kennedy, George Quinn, Frank Lynch, David Moses, Cal Kirby and Dean O'Rourke.

The Lifford boys are now into the open draw and the last 32 teams in the competition.

Our hosts today were very gracious and the hospitality we received from the Mastergheea FC Club was very welcome with all the players,managers and parents feed and watered before the journey home.
